Wenchuan Earthquake 3 Years On
At 2:28 on 12 May 2008, a magnitude 8.0 earthquake in Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province rocked more than 46 million people in 10 provinces / municipalities / cities across China. Three years have passed, the debris and ruins once filled the places are now replaced with new buildings and infrastructure. Quake affected communities have restored normal life.
With the support of the Chinese government at all levels, World Vision has contributed over RMB 290 million (nearly USD 45 million) to the hard hit provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia, in the area of education, housing, health and community infrastructure and livelihood development, walking with about 2.2 million people to resilience.
